CEA is the national voice for safe, secure and sustainable electricity for all Canadians, representing the energy companies that power our lives. Electricity is the set of physical phenomena associated with the presence and motion of matter that has a property of electric charge.Electricity is related to magnetism, both being part of the phenomenon of electromagnetism, as described by Maxwell's equations. Everything is made up of tiny particles. These particles may have positive or negative charges. Electricity is the presence or flow of these charged particles. Some materials do not conduct. ElectriCities is a member organization that serves public power communities.
What is Public Power?
“Public power” means a community owns and operates its own electric utility, distributing energy to its residents. That local ownership provides significant benefits within the community.
There are over 2,000 public power communities in the United States, with more than 70 in North Carolina alone.
